The DPF filter is part of the vehicle's emissions control and exhaust system, and its function is to trap soot particles that would otherwise be released from the car. In order for each filter to work properly and perform optimal filtration, it needs to be cleaned regularly to prevent engine clogging. In the case of the DPF filter, the cleaning process is called regeneration, and it is performed by treating the collected soot at high temperatures, turning it into a small amount of ash that is then discharged from the system.
